What do volunteers do?
Every week in Clydesdale, our volunteers help young people learn new skills, build confidence, make friends, and take on challenges they never thought possible. They’re the reason Scouting happens — ordinary people doing something extraordinary by giving a bit of their time to support the next generation.
From running activities and camps to offering a steady hand behind the scenes, our volunteers shape young people’s lives for the better — and often discover something new about themselves along the way.
But we can’t do it alone.
There are thousands of young people across the UK on waiting lists to join Scouts, and Clydesdale is no exception. We’ve got more demand than ever before — and that’s where you come in.
There's a Role for Everyone.
You don’t need to have been a Scout. You don’t need to know how to pitch a tent. And you definitely don’t need to be an adventurer like our Chief Scout, Dwayne Fields. We’re looking for people from all walks of life — whether you can lend a hand once a week, once a month, or once a term.
We’re talking tea-makers and tidy-uppers, activity planners and first aiders, minibus drivers, crafters, campfire singers, spreadsheet wranglers, and calm heads on rainy nights. Maybe you're a student looking to build your CV, or a parent who wants to spend more time with your child. However you help, it matters.
You’ll get full support and training — no experience needed. If you’re aged 18 or over, you can join as an adult volunteer. If you’re between 14 and 18, you can get involved as a Young Leader.
Whatever time you can give, you’ll make a real difference. And you’ll gain just as much as you give — new skills, new friendships, and memories that last a lifetime.
